Did You Know? | Pulmonary hypertension
Did You Know? | Lung Health Fact
Pulmonary hypertension is a condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs becomes abnormally high.
Unlike systemic hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure, pulmonary hypertension specifically affects the blood vessels that carry blood through the lungs.
It can place additional strain on the right side of the heart and may affect a person’s ability to carry out everyday activities.
Possible symptoms include:
• Shortness of breath, especially during activity
• Fatigue
• Dizziness or fainting
• Chest discomfort
• Swelling of the legs or ankles
Pulmonary hypertension can have different causes and requires proper medical assessment.
Early recognition and appropriate treatment can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
At the Lung Foundation of Malaysia (LFM), we support greater awareness of respiratory and pulmonary conditions.
Know the signs. Seek medical advice.
